How to Make a QR Code for an Image

To turn an image into a QR code, upload it above and download the code that appears. The image is hosted with a permanent link, and the QR code points at that link.

  1. Add the image. Drop it on the box, click to choose it, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V. Already online? Use the Use a link tab instead.
  2. Choose what it opens. The image's page (with the picture, a title and share buttons) or the image file itself.
  3. Style it. It starts in our style, as on every image page; change the modules, colours or logo if you like.
  4. Download. PNG for screens and documents, SVG for large prints. Scan it with your own phone before you print.

Where to Use It

  • Menus, price lists and timetables on a table or in a window.
  • Flyers and posters that lead to the full-size picture or a video.
  • Events and weddings: a seating plan, a map or a photo to share.
  • Business cards and packaging: a product photo, a portfolio piece or instructions.
  • Classrooms and notice boards: a worksheet, a diagram or a photo of the board.

Printing Tips

  • Size: at least 2 × 2 cm (about 0.8 inch) for scanning from close up, larger for posters read from a distance - roughly one tenth of the scanning distance.
  • Contrast: keep the two colours far apart; for print on white paper, a dark code on a light background is the safest. The tool warns you when the colours are too close.
  • Margin: keep the white border around the code; text or images touching it make it harder to read.
  • Test it: scan the printed code with two different phones before printing many.

Want the picture itself smaller or cleaner first? Compress or crop it, and blur anything private.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make a QR code for a picture?
Upload the picture in the box on this page. It is hosted and given a link, and the QR code for that link appears straight away. Download it as PNG or SVG and print or share it.
What happens when someone scans it?
Their phone camera opens the link: the picture's page, or the image file itself if you chose "Direct image link". No app is needed; every modern phone camera reads QR codes.
Does the QR code expire?
No. The code only holds the link, and links here are permanent unless you delete the upload. If you delete it, the code stops leading anywhere.
Can I make a QR code for an image that is already online?
Yes. Switch to "Use a link" and paste the image's address. The QR code is made in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
PNG or SVG?
PNG for screens, documents and most printing - choose the largest size for print. SVG stays sharp at any size, which suits posters, banners and design software.
Can I change the colours?
Yes. The code starts in the YourImageShare style, light on dark with our logo in the middle, the same as on every image page. You can switch to square modules, pick your own colours and remove the logo. Keep strong contrast; for print, a dark code on a light background is the safest.
