How to Convert Images to PDF
To convert a JPG or PNG to PDF, add the images above, put them in order and press Create PDF. The PDF downloads as soon as it's ready - usually in a second or two.
- Add the images. Drag them onto the box, click to choose them, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V. Use Add images to add more later.
- Put them in order. Each image is one page. Drag a row to move it, or use the arrows; × removes an image.
- Choose the layout. A4, US Letter or the size of each image; portrait, landscape or automatic; and the margin.
- Create the PDF and save it.
Quality and File Size
Many converters re-compress every photo when they build a PDF. This one places JPG photos in the PDF exactly as they are, so they keep their quality and the PDF is about the size of the photos added together. PNG images and screenshots are stored without loss, so text stays sharp.
Phone photos that are stored sideways are turned the right way up first, and images in other formats are re-saved at high quality. Transparent areas become white, as they would on paper. Location and camera data from your photos are not copied into the PDF. If the PDF is too big to email, shrink the images first with the image compressor or resizer.
Page Size and Margins
| Page size | Measures | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| A4 | 210 × 297 mm | Printing and forms outside North America |
| US Letter | 8.5 × 11 in | Printing and forms in the US and Canada |
| Same as image | Each page fits its picture | Photos, screenshots, viewing on screen |
With A4 or Letter, each image is scaled to fit the page and centred. Automatic orientation turns the page to landscape for wide images and portrait for tall ones, so nothing ends up tiny.
When a PDF Helps
- Forms and applications that only accept a PDF: scans of an ID, a receipt or a signed page.
- Several photos in one attachment - one file instead of ten.
- Printing a set of pictures on standard paper.
To share pictures with a link instead of a file, upload them and use an album - see photo hosting.
